Spring has Sprung

This is going to be the longest 4 weeks of my life! You have no idea how much I want to be back in Canada where they have Kraft Dinner, and Ranch Dressing.  Even though this country is a wonderful place and I will definitely be missing the easy transportation, people, and New Look it is so time for me to go home.  Don’t get me wrong I have had such an enjoyable time this year and I will be coming back to Europe in a couple years but I am so not ready to be away from my family for a full year without any visits.  Mind you I will probably be eating my words in about July when I can’t handle being treated like a member of the family again but for now, home is where I want to be.

Today was the very first day that it felt like spring.  It was really warm and sunny and many people went outside in shorts to do whatever homework they had to do.  Now I should have lumped myself in with that group but my computer is so broke and I can’t leave it unplugged so I was stuck inside pretending to write my essay for bible.  What a joy.

But now that I have been to the Library and took out all the books they had on Euthanasia I should really get back to it.

Hi, we are the police and we want to ask you some questions

So how cool is this!  I have not gone to the gym in over 2 weeks, we were working on essays and it was freezing and who wants to walk to the gym when it is like minus a bazillion!  Last time I was there I had gone swimming and then gotten out and waited for everyone else.  While I was waiting two different Police cars showed up with five police officers in them.  They were in the lobby talking to this guy who I had seen in the hot tub or as they call it here in England the Jacuzzi.  He was kind of strange looking and was watching the swimming lessons that were going on.  Now normally people watch kids doing swimming lessons like “aww they are so cute” or “those poor kids are so afraid of the water” but he was looking around like he was guilty and watching the kids really creepily.  Now it might be that I have watched too much Criminal Minds and now suspect everyone of some sinister plot to take over the world but when the police came and asked me if they could ask me a few questions I felt like Bones or Spencer Reid about to solve a case.

So here is what happened Sarah was working out in the gym while I had gone to swim.  One of the guys who works there asked her to get of the machine and come with him, because they needed to ask her some questions.  So she got off and he said “you might want to take your stuff with you” so here she if freaking out that something was wrong and she comes out and there are the police and the hotel manager.  They asked her if she was there on March the 6th and who in their right mind knows what date they go to the gym but then she said “was it the day the police were here” and they got it all sorted out.  So they ask her if she had been in the pool and she said no, so then they asked her if her friend had been in there and Sarah, being the good friend that she is was like I don’t know maybe.  (that’s right Sarah totally played dumb to the police) but then they told her that I wasn’t in trouble and they just needed to know what I had saw so they she’s like “oh ya she was in the pool and she is in the pool now.”  Then they came to me....

I was doing lapse and Sarah comes in and calls me, I thought that she was done so I slowly swim to the end and she’s like “so the police want to ask you some question, you’re not in trouble but they want to ask you about that day when all the police were here.”  I, in my head, freak out like omg the freaking police want to talk to me. So I get out and walk over to them, in my dripping wet bathing suit, the police and the hotel manager are standing there and the police asked me if I was here on the 6th of March and I said “oh was that they day where there was that freaky guy and all the police?” cuz I am so awesome that I know which date I go to the gym, and the Officer was like yes and he obviously made an impression on you so tell me what you saw.  I told him that I wasn’t sure what he was looking for but said how he was watching the kids and how it was kind of strange and he then asked if he could take my details and I told him my name and number and that I was living at Newbold. Still standing in my dripping wet swim suit how weird is that.  And then he asked if it was alright if they needed a statement they could call me.  So maybe I will be called to court.  How cool would that be, go to England and appear in court!

The creepiest part is that we haven’t been to the gym in like two weeks and then we show up and the police are right there saying that they have been watching the cctv and gathering all the evidence.  So either they just happened to be there or they saw us come and called the police.  I hope it was the latter that makes me feel so much more important.

A little update

These 10 days have been the most unproductive 10 days of my life even worse than the start of break.  I came in on Thursday, went to church Sabbath and then promptly went into hiding.  I didn’t take a shower for the next couple days, woke up at noon and watched Grey’s anatomy until I felt like my brain was turning to mush.  By this time I was chocking on my own smell and starving my mind out, so I had to take my life into my own hand, in a matter of speaking.  So I woke up still at noon, but a body can only do so much, took a shower, shaved, put on deodorant, and a pair of jeans, took the bus to the store bought myself some food and reined in my doctor show addiction.

Now that all this has passed over, and school is starting on Monday I really have to start thinking about what I am going to do this semester.  I was talking to my parents a couple days ago and they asked if there was a train pass that I could buy so that I would be able to see more of England if nothing else.  So I will have to look into that because they are right I am in a country that speaks English and I know where I would like to go so I might as well take advantage of the opportunity.  So here I come, travel crazy Michel

I am so ready to go home!

I didn't really fall in love but I must say I like Timon’s driving better than Michael’s.

On the last day of my visit to Switzerland we all went to this amazing water park.  I was a little apprehensive considering that I was thinking that it would be like West Ed and I don’t really like that one, but it was better than anything I could have imagined.  And of course I wasn’t thinking about how horrible I looked in my bikini, but was focused on how much fun I was having. But I don’t think I looked that bad, but I guess I can’t really be the judge of that, I have decided that if I ever go back to Switzerland that I will definitely head back there with Sarah!

After all that fun and joy I got up the next morning, said good-bye to everyone and headed to the airport to visit Poland.  Now I am already tired of traveling and living out of a suitcase and Sarah and I never went to bed before 1 so I was probably sleep deprived but as we took off and I was looking at beautiful Switzerland for the last time I started to cry................hard core. Not just a tear here or there but really crying I probably scared the girl sitting next to me but she didn’t speak English so who cares.  Now was I crying because I wanted to stay in Switzerland with Sarah and her awesome family or was it because I just wanted that plane to take a very long detour and head back to my motherland?  I don’t have the slightest but whatever it was it left me red eyed and looking crazy, like had had just said good-bye to my boyfriend or family for the first time like I said.......Crazy

Anywho I think homesickness has kicked in and I have not 100% enjoyed my stay in Poland.  I came to see one thing and I saw it but I still had 2 days to kill, with a host family who doesn’t speak very good English but who has been more than welcoming and pleasant so I really shouldn’t be complaining, so I won’t.  I have seen everything that Poland has to offer within a 2 hours radius with my very native guide.  I have see beautiful old cities, an ancient castle where I had to wear protective footwear, and the most amazing salt mine which you will see pictures of on fb once I get back to school.  I greatly enjoyed, and I know that sounds creepy, but I did enjoy Auschwitz.  I have always wanted to go and I finally did.  I had an idea that the people who were gassed right away without a chance to prove their worth were jipped, but after being there in the winter and seeing how these people lived out there last days I totally change my mind.  More than 75% of the people getting off the trains were gassed.  Now if you saw a mass of people all walking together being told all along the way by signs and soldiers that you were all going to take a shower, told to take you clothes off and remember which peg you hung them on so you could get them after, and then led into a room with shower heads all over the ceiling wouldn’t you think that you were going to have a shower? Well these people did and that is a much better way of going then freezing in drafty wooden barracks, sleeping on cement and walking around in shoes that didn’t and clothes that where paper thin.  I would much rather have taken a shower.

I know neither family will ever see this but I would like to Say a very big thank you to both families for having me a sharing everything you had with me.  I would not have traveled Europe without your homes to crash in.

Well now that you all know how my trip to Poland was I think that I will go watch Grey’s Anatomy since Sarah got me hooked, Curse you! And I fly back to my own bed tomorrow.

Happy New Year

Today is New Years Eve and we are headed to the Church to have some strange New Year’s Eve party.  Last week all of us sang in a choir thing for church and the whole service was in German and you would guess Sarah tried to translate the children’s story and it was an epic fail!  It was so funny either the story was wacked or Sarah’s translation was.  Here is the beginning, there was once a farmer and you know what animals lived on the farm? Children: pigs, chickens, giraffes, and lions.  Well there was a lion and the farmer’s women had a special relationship with this lion. Somehow this woman ended up in the hospital and the man wanted to take the lion to visit his woman so he put the lion in a suitcase and punched holes in it. Me: what in the world how big is this suitcase? And how big is the lion?  Anywho this man took the lion to the hospital and let it out of the suitcase and it jumped on the woman and licked her face off.  By this time we were laughing so hard that I really didn’t hear the ending or the moral of this story.  We were sitting on the front row of the church since we were singing and here we are laughing so hard and probably making everyone think that I was a very ill-mannered person.  Oh wait Sarah just told me that the moral was that in heaven we won’t eat each other just like the lion didn’t eat the wife.  So church was very eventful.

So we have been walking around all kinds of cities in these pass few day.  We drove to the Italian part and went through that really long tunnel in Switzerland, Gotthard Tunnel 17 KM, so we walked around there where Timon had to go to the army than on another day we went to Luzern and walked around there I found a new charm for my bracelet and walked along this beautiful lake called Vierwaldstaettersee I know it is a horrible name I had to get Sarah to type it.  And on all these walks and other adventures Sarah, Timon and I just stick together since the other Michael and Anja and freaking dating and no one wanted to be a third wheel.  Of course I love this cuz it means that I just talk and flirt with Timon and take pictures with Sarah.  It is the best of both worlds.  Sarah and I are headed back to Luzern before we go to the Church for this party, Timon is driving us and Sarah thinks he is a horrible driver so either I will fall in love or be scared out of my mind. Here we go!
